Rovinj

Take your loved one and have a romantic walk through the streets of old town Rovinj. It is situated on a hilly little peninsula as a testimony of the great skills of local builders of past times. Nowadays, Rovinj represents one of the best examples of local urban architecture. Numerous galleries and craft workshops offer true authentic atmosphere before reaching the patron of Rovinj, the Church of St. Euphemia dating back to 18th century. From here you can enjoy magnificent view over tiled rooftops and stunning archipelago of Rovinj.

On your way to Rovinj you have a chance to stop by the winery Matosevic and enjoy the wine tasting in a great wine cellar surrounded by vineyards (reservation needed) before you reach marvelous city of Rovinj. After a romantic walk through the old town tummies get hungry, a dinner at stunning restaurant Monte, well known for its Michelin star, is a nice option to restore balance.

Pula

Majestic Roman history can be found in Pula. The most famous is amphitheatre (also known as the Arena) in which the gladiator fights were organized dating from the first century AD. Today, the Arena presents itself as a stage for concerts, operas, and the renowned Pula Film Festival. Other monuments worth visiting are the Triumphal Arch of Sergius, the Temple of Augustus, the Gate of Hercules, Porta Gemina and many others.

It is worth to save time in Pula and also visit nearby national park Brijuni, a group of 14 islands and islets. There you can book an excursion to island called ‘’Veliki Brijun’’ known by indigenous vegetation, Safari park with zebras, llamas, deers and other animals. A lot of things are on you to explore there so plan your whole day for complete Brijuni experience.

For hungry tummies in Pula, we recommend to try probably the best pizza in the city at the restaurant Tivoli.

City of mosaics Porec

If you want to explore footsteps of Rome, the splendour of Byzantium and an elegant touch of Venice, you can find it integrated in the city of Porec. Protected by UNESCO, a cultural jewel worth a visit for stunning architecture and especially Euphrasian Basilica built around the mid-sixth century.

We recommend you to visit St. Nikola island which is approx. 10 min drive with a shuttle boat and enjoy your dinner time at restaurant St. Nikola which offers excellent Mediterranean food in beautiful setting with the great sea view.

City of artists Groznjan

Grožnjan is known as a meeting point for international artists, a centre for young talented people from around the world who come here for a summer music school and attend classes for various instruments. Artists’ colony was founded  here back in 1965 and this marvelous place is known across the region as City of Artists. Today, there are over 30 different galleries and art studios in Grožnjan. Walking along the authentic and narrow streets, you will find some of the most beautiful souvenirs of colourful Istria.

At the end of this picturesque place we recommend you to enjoy the coffee and ice cream with a spectacular valley view from the terrace of coffee bar Vero. Also in Groznjan you can buy Istrian truffles, oil, cheese, wine and very good grappa.

Truffles in Motovun

Motovun as a hill-situated medieval town is surrounded by walls which date from the 13th and the 14th century. Two precious jewels you can explore here are both magnificent view of the Mirna valley and the Motovun forest – home to the world-famous truffles.

As the Istrian white truffle is one of the most renowned in the world, you should go truffle hunting. A rush of adrenaline that you will experience with lovely hosts during the truffle hunting certainly will not leave you indifferent, because truffles are their love and their way of life, and they are tasty. You will learn all about truffles, the tradition of hunting, and about trained dogs. If you get hungry, Restaurant Zigante is the first Croatian restaurant specialized in preparing meals containing Istrian truffle. Throughout the whole year it offers with loving precision combined menus with fresh truffles.
